We invite applications from principal investigators with a track record of successful PhD supervision, to submit proposals that focus on research into Psychosocial Oncology in Childhood Cancers. North West Cancer Research and KidsCan are seeking to jointly fund one PhD studentship with a budget of up to £115,000 including stipend for up to 3.5 years.
Applications could be in any of the following areas:
• The psychosocial implications of a childhood cancer diagnosis
• Psychosocial impacts of treatments for cancer
• Impacts of childhood cancer diagnosis or treatment impacts on family members
All applications should be in the area of psychosocial oncology and should focus on childhood cancers.
Applications for this funding round are open to researchers across the United Kingdom. In making their applications, researchers should consider the relevance of their application to the people of the North West of England and North Wales.
Although this funding round is being run for the first time, North West Cancer Research runs an annual PhD funding stream which has operated for a number of years. The success rate of applications is as follows.

All applications will undergo rigorous external peer and academic review. The details of panel members will be made available to view once confirmed.
