The event, which was organised by North West Cancer Research, was held at The Forge restaurant, situated in the heart of the historic city of Chester.
Ladies’ Lunch guests, including women from local businesses such as Leonard Curtis, DTM Legal and Chester Racecourse, enjoyed an interactive cocktail making session as well as a fashion tutorial with Jigsaw and skincare and makeup demo from Lancome.
Dr Lisa Ashmore joined the guests to share insights into her cancer care and service projects, funded by North West Cancer Research. She delved into her Gynae Narratives project, which focussed on exploring the lives and experiences of women during and beyond treatment for gynaecological cancers. Dr Ashmore emphasized the importance of talking openly with our healthcare providers and advocating for improved care throughout all treatment phases.
A delicious three course lunch followed in the AA Rosette awarded restaurant, before Charity staff drew a raffle featuring prizes ranging from Easter hampers and restaurant vouchers to family photoshoots and comedy night tickets. Singer songwriter Luna was also in attendance at the event to entertain guests with a live performance.
Carol Kirkham, Head of Fundraising, said: “We were so pleased to be back at The Forge for our second outing of the Ladies’ Lunch here in Chester. It’s always such a lovely afternoon to get together with these brilliant women who support our mission of a cancer-free future for the region, and this year to also celebrate it so close to International Women’s Day was extra special.
“As always we’re so grateful to the local businesses that donate prizes for our raffle and goodie bags – and to Luna and Dr Ashmore for donating their time to the event - it helps us boost our fundraising and raise as much as we possibly can for life-saving cancer research.”
