Catrin's Raffle for Cancer Research

Welsh Makeup Artist, Catrin Hicks, has hosted an online raffle to support local, life-saving cancer research.

Earlier this year at the height of the Welsh lockdown, Catrin decided to host a fundraiser in aid of North West Cancer Research, but with all hair and beauty services closed across the country, she was forced to get creative with her fundraising.

Catrin, who is also a secondary school teacher throughout the week, handpicked £300 worth of her favourite luxury and high street makeup brands to be raffled off to customers and online followers. Tickets were sold at £3 each for the luxurious hamper of goodies, with 100 people purchasing a ticket.

Catrin said “I came up with the idea for the raffle as a way to support cancer research because this awful disease has affected our family for the past two years.

“My step mum was first diagnosed with stage three breast cancer and then in December she was diagnosed with a brain tumour that was also cancerous. Thankfully, she has since had a successful operation to remove the tumour but it has had a lasting effect on her memory and walking.

“As you can imagine, the research funded by North West Cancer Research is very important to us and as a family we are extremely thankful for it.”
