Entering its 31st year, the Liverpool Chester Liverpool Bike Ride has become a firm fixture in the Merseyside events calendar, welcoming 3,000 riders each year to challenge themselves while raising money for a good cause. Pennine Events, the team behind LCL, are immensely proud to announce that North-West Cancer Research will be the headline charity partner of the 31st annual LCL Bike Ride which will take place on July 7th, 2024.

Northwest Cancer Research is the only independent charity dedicated to tackling cancer across the North-West and North Wales, putting the region’s cancer needs first.

Since 2000, they have funded more than £40 million of world-class research, addressing cancer inequalities and championing the North-West’s research community to pave the way for a cancer-free future. From conducting life-saving research to leading ground-breaking projects that unveil better and kinder treatments, they aim to tackle the cause, improve the care and, importantly, find the cure. However, this fantastic work is only possible thanks to the dedication and fundraising efforts of their supporters.

Alastair Richards, CEO of Northwest Cancer Research, said: “After our brilliant experience at the Liverpool Chester Liverpool Ride last year, we’re thrilled to become the Headline Charity for 2024.

“It’s been great working alongside the LCL team and we’re excited to see where we can take the 2024 event. The ride will be a key part of our event calendar to raise as much as possible to support life-saving cancer research and education right here in our region.

We can’t wait to see returning faces next year and look forward to welcoming new riders, making this year’s event even bigger and better for the Charity”.

The Liverpool Chester Liverpool Bike Ride boasts six different routes ranging from 5 to 100 miles meaning that it is open for people of all ages and skill levels. Children under the age of 15 ride for free with a paying adult which makes it the perfect active day out for families.

After raising an astounding £88,000+ for their charities in 2023, the LCL Bike Ride is aiming even higher in 2024 and is seeking the support of people from across the North-West and beyond to pedal for purpose and register for the Liverpool Chester Liverpool Bike Ride 2024 to raise money and help Northwest Cancer Research continue to make a difference across the region.

Alissa Koopal, CEO of Pennine Events said: “We’re delighted to welcome North West Cancer Research as our headline charity partner for the 31st annual LCL Bike Ride! We are so excited to have thousands of cyclists joining us once again to raise money to support incredible work across our local region. As part of this partnership, we have ensured free places for all children aged under 15 and continue to be an all-abilities and non-competitive event – to promote cycling, healthy living and also- community for all. I would encourage everyone to get involved, strap on their helmets and power up their pedals for this fantastic cause.”
