Putting our region's cancer needs first

Walkers Cross Morecambe Bay

A group of fundraisers successfully completed the iconic Cross Bay Walk to raise funds for life-saving cancer research and education.

Participants after completing the walk

The inspiring event spans 7-8 miles across the beautiful but challenging sands of Morecambe Bay, and saw our six participants trek through a variety of terrains including sand, marshland and even wading through knee deep water.

The team embarked on their journey from Arnside Promenade guided by Michael Wilson, the King’s Guide to The Sands, who expertly led them across the variable terrain of the bay.

The walkers continued on to the end of the trail with determination, through sand, streams and, thankfully, lots of sun!

Alastair Richards, CEO of North West Cancer Research, took part in the event and said:

“Crossing the bay was tough, but thinking about why we are doing it kept us going. It was a brilliant experience and a very different way to spend a Sunday.”

“The support we have received has been great and the funds raised will undoubtedly help us continue our fight against cancer in the region.”
