THE GREAT NORTH RUN

Three fundraisers have hit the streets of Newcastle to run for research at this year’s Great North Run.

#TeamNWCR completed the half marathon (21km) in September, racing around the city’s landmarks and crossing the iconic Tyne Bridge, raising a total of £1,250 for local research projects.

Helen Watson took on the Great North Run after losing friends to cancer and said: “It’s crucial that vital funds are raised for research to prevent and cure cancer, so supporting my local cancer charity is really important to me.

“I really enjoyed the atmosphere and challenge of this run. It spurred me on knowing I was trying to make a difference.”
