Brown Turner Ross’ paralegal Rebecca Chase has been one of those hardy souls, and after catching the ‘running bug’ and building up her speed throughout lockdown, will now be tackling the Manchester Marathon in October.
Raising funds for North West Cancer Research, Rebecca, who received surgery three years ago and had to learn to walk again, is now ready for the UK’s second largest marathon, which starts in MediaCityUK and snakes around the south side of Manchester, with her endurance increasing after every practice run.
Battling a recurring knee injury throughout her training so far, Rebecca has already clocked up hundreds of kilometres during her training programme, which has seen long distance runs completed along the Southport coastline, as well as through her native Atherton.
With six months to go until the big day, Rebecca is ready for the challenge ahead and with the support of her friends and colleagues at Brown Turner Ross, believes she will be ready to tackle her debut marathon come Sunday, October 10.
Rebecca Chase, paralegal at Brown Turner Ross, said:
“I’ve always dreamt of running a marathon and after taking up running throughout the pandemic I thought now was the perfect time to do something that a few years ago would never have been possible.
“Like many across the country, my family has been affected by a cancer diagnosis and the difficult decisions that come from this. It is for this reason that I have decided to run the marathon for North West Cancer Research and I know when the marathon gets tough, the motivation of helping my loved ones will get me over the finishing line.”
