Mervyn Supports Mold

Mold Committee have accepted a personal donation on behalf of NWCR recently as Mervyn Davies donated an incredibly generous £5,625.

The donation comes after Mervyn petitioned to name North West Cancer Research as Charity of the Year during his tenancy as Captain of Mold Golf Club in 2019, but lost out to another local charity.

Motivated by his own battle with cancer, when he was treated at Shooting Stars in Wrexham, and not one to break a promise, Mervyn took it upon himself to make sure local cancer research was supported and got in touch with Mold Committee to make his donation.

He said: “I felt that I had let the Charity down a bit and I wanted to rectify that – I know that charities are struggling at the moment so it was important to me that I do my bit for NWCR.”

Sharon Knott, Chair of Mold Committee, said: “We’re so honoured that Mervyn took it upon himself to support the Charity in such a huge way. As a representative for NWCR, we’re extremely grateful and know what a huge difference this amount can make. Thank you Merv.”
